Millions of women worldwide suffer from complications of pregnancy and delivery. For every woman who dies of maternal related causes, at least 20 women experience a maternal morbidity, of which obstetric fistula is one of the most severe forms.
United Nations Population Fund is teaming up with partners to spearhead the Global Campaign to End Fistula.
As illustrated by this infographic, the road to obstetric fistula is fraught with delays: delays in the progression of labour, delays in getting to an appropriate facility, delays in getting the proper health treatment.
The Campaign to End Fistula harnesses the power of partnerships and concerted efforts to tackle this neglected health and human rights issue.
